Question: In Genesis 15:10, why didn’t Abe butterfly the birds?

Google

In Genesis 15:10, the birds were not cut in half because the law of Leviticus 1:17 stated that fowls should only be cloven, not divided. This was for the purpose of removing the intestines.

Explanation

In Genesis 15:10, Abraham cut the other animals in half and laid the halves opposite each other. The act of dividing the animals symbolized the seriousness of the Covenant and what would happen if the oath was broken. Both parties passed between the divided carcasses.

The passage in Genesis 15 recognizes that it can be difficult to believe when in bad situations. However, God addresses bad situations with promises that are true to our needs.
